Echocardiography works by using ultrasound, which we frequently use to image other parts of the body. It transmits ultrasound impulses from a probe, which is lightly held against your chest. The ultrasounds are transmitted into the body and reflected by the heart, and the probe then processes the returning signals. A digital moving real-time image is displayed on the screen, enabling us to get high-resolution images of the heart in real-time.
