Are there any ambulatory BP recorders and Holter ECG monitoring risks?

Consultant cardiologist Navin Chandra answers the question about BP recorders and Holter ECG monitoring risks.

There are no risks involved with ambulatory blood pressure recordings or with 24-hour ECG recordings as they are noninvasive tests. The only issue perhaps is to make sure that you ensure the quality of the information that we gather from these devices.

We’d like you not to tamper with the tools or disconnect and reconnect unless you’re pleased with how to do it as been shown by our physiologist.

Essentially, we want to make sure we get a maximized opportunity to get quality information from these tests. The only thing you need to be aware of is getting them wet as this, of course, stops the technology from working and therefore doesn’t give us any information.
