Why did Joban Sehmi become a cardiologist?
Consultant cardiologist Joban Sehmi explains how he passionated for cardiology and ended up being a cardiologist.
I am very passionate about my career in medicine. Medicine is a great profession. It allows me to essentially talk to people all day, listen to their concerns, and in a small way, help ease their fears and make a positive contribution to people’s lives.
Also, I have a strong affection for cardiology, primarily because heart disease is a problem that affects many members of the South Asian community, to which I belong. Several members of my family have been affected by heart disease, so it is personal. Being a cardiologist, I have the ability and the skillset as well as the ability to empathize with my patients so I can help treat the symptoms and allow them to lead a healthy life free from heart disease.
